Dr. Sharon Smith - School Counselor 7th /8th grade

I am a native of Jamaica West Indies, and I relocated to the United States in September 1970. I lived in New York for 36 years and after many years in the fashion business, I went back to school to pursue a career in counseling. I spent four years in the public school system in New York, working with autistic children; and ten years in St. Lucie County Florida as a school counselor. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management, a Master of Science degree in Counseling, a Doctorate in Christian Counseling, and is two chapters away from completing a dissertation towards an EdD. My academic career has afforded me the opportunity to be a school counselor, a private Christian counselor, and a part time professor at Indian River State College.

I am the author of several books, and the editor and chief of a women’s magazine called The Bridge. I am also the founder and president of “Inspired Wholeness Ministries” a non-profit organization geared towards wholeness and wellness. I am an ordained Pastor and an inspirational speaker who has been given the opportunity to speak throughout the US and the Caribbean at many different venues.

I have two grown children (Shanae and Jason), a son in law (Nick), a daughter in law (Cabrea), three grandchildren, who are my pride and joy: Alex, Leilani and Caleb and another grandbaby on the way. My mantra is “Practice Doesn’t Make You Perfect, Practice Makes You Better”. It is my pleasure to be here and I hope to make a difference at IMS.
