    The Martin County School District adheres to the Bureau of K-12 Assessment as required by Florida law (see Section 1008.22, Florida Statutes).

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Requirement to Participate in State Testing

    Grades K-12

    Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener (FLKRS): The Florida Department of Education has adopted a statewide kindergarten screening instrument that assesses the readiness of each student for kindergarten based on the performance standards adopted by the department for the Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (VPK)

    Florida State Assessments (FSA): The Florida Standards Assessments, which measure student success with the Florida Standards, include assessments in English Language Arts (grades 3-10), Mathematics (grades 3-8), and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments for Algebra 1 and Geometry.

    Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS): The NGSSS End-of-Course (EOC) assessments are computer-based tests designed to measure student achievement of the specified standards for middle- and high-school level courses in Science (Biology 1) and Social Studies (Civics and U.S. History).

    Statewide Science Assessment: The Statewide Science Assessment measures student success with the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and includes assessments in grades 5 and 8.

    ACCESS for ELLs: Florida uses the ACCESS for ELLs suite of assessments as a tool to measure English Language Learners (ELLs) proficiency in the English language; thus, ensuring the skills needed in school to achieve at high levels, academically.

    Special Programs Students

    For all special programs students, the parent/guardian is responsible for contacting the district to register the student for the selected state assessments and for transporting the student to and from the district-assigned testing location.

    For special programs students interested in taking Advanced Placement (AP) Exams, the parent/guardian is responsible for completing the following form and returning such to the designated high school as indicated.  Additionally, transportation is not provided to and from the designated testing location:
