  • 3/29/30

We begin our digital instruction program on Monday, March 30.

On Monday, teachers have developed ways to continue the academic process with some prerecorded lessons and assignments.  Your student’s responsibility is to check-in and initiate communication. Students need to respond to teacher communication, in fact, the first few assignments are for the purpose of ensuring lines of communication are open. It is important that you encourage your student to log in to their Google classrooms daily through the ClassLink pathway, to ensure proper attendance will be recorded and to ensure students are up to date on class information and assignments.

Virtual learning is flexible!  It will not mirror a traditional in school bell schedule; there is no expectation for students nor teachers to be at the computer all day. Just like in a typical classroom, teachers will be available to provide instruction, coaching and support through “live chat instruction” during the hours outlined below in our daily schedule. Throughout the day and into the evening, Students can access their classrooms by signing in and out using ClassLink and they are encouraged to do so. Because there may be some scheduling conflicts, Teachers will communicate directly with students through Google Classroom and share any adaptations of live instruction time, through this communication, some live instruction time may occur outside of the designated window.  Here is our school's daily schedule from the District

    Virtual class schedule

If your family does not have access to the internet in your home, Comcast is currently offering its internet essentials package free. Please see the MCSD website for details.

Please have your child log into ClassLink using the icon on their District-issued laptop or by going to martinschools.org and clicking the ClassLink button on the homepage on a personal device. This Classlink pathway is critical as it will offer a means to have your child marked present and in attendance daily. Upon entering through ClassLink, then accessing the Google Classroom dashboard, students should make certain that they are able to access all of their classes by clicking the “join” button at the bottom of the landing page for each class. If a student cannot find a class or is in need of the join code, missing Google Classroom codes can be found in the assignment section of a class on the student’s FOCUS account.

We anticipate that you or your student will have questions about technology, instructional materials or the digital learning process.  Your first step is to communicate to your child’s teacher, who will provide an answer or refer the question to a District administrator who can provide additional support. Teachers can be contacted through the Google Classroom or email; here is the link to the staff directory found on our website.

In the event that your child has not been assigned to a particular classroom, or if you have questions about next week, please email sfhshelp@martin.k12.fl.us or email a member of our Administrative team.

For your benefit, I have created a Google Classroom (Hangout with Mr.Blavatt), join with code z3fkk3j I too will be conducting “live instruction” for all students, teachers, parents or community members who would like to chat.

Thank you for your patience, support and confidence in our tremendous staff who is doing their very best to provide everything your child needs. Starting tomorrow remember The 3 C’s:

    1. Use Classlink to access Google Classroom daily

    2. Commit to Learning and be active in your process, attendance and grades matter towards earning credit

    3. Communicate- We recognize that every family has various needs and challenges, please take the time to communicate your needs with your teachers.

Lastly, please continue to monitor the Martin County School District’s dedicated Coronavirus webpage at www.martinschools.org/coronavirusinfo This webpage is updated on a continuous basis and contains information about where to obtain free meals for children, our digital learning plan, tutorials for parents and students on Google Classroom and other digital applications and illness prevention resources.
